Blue Forest Petrified Wood Botryoidal Bubbles Galore 8 lbs Polished Log
Holy Botryoidal Bubbles Batman! This incredibly unique Blue Forest Petrified Wood specimen comes with cavity on one side that runs the length from top to bottom, completely full of botryoidal bubbles – purple-ish, white, and other color variations. And, by the way, did you know that botryoidal comes from Greek, translating roughly to bunches of grapes? That’s what this specimen is and a lot more, too. In fact, the round offers very distinct ring remnant details with variation in colors and wonderful agate and chalcedony. And the chalcedony doesn’t stop there. If you look at the photographs, you’ll see the sheet of chalcedony that folds around the actual botryoidal cavity. Specimen measures 6 1/2 inches tall and is 5 x 4 across the polished face. Weighs 8 lbs 1 ounce! Log is not cut on the bottom and rests angled on level surface. This specimen is a great candidate for devising a LED light inside the chalcedony fold to illuminate the bubbles. The polish is excellent. Thank you for viewing this listing of blue forest petrified wood. Blue forest petrified wood is one of the most unique and, yet, diverse types of petrified wood that exist. Found in the vicinity of Eden Valley, Wyoming, blue forest is typically smaller than average petrified woods. A good, general limb size may be about 3 to 4 inches in diameter; some up to more than a foot in diameter; others as little as 1/2 an inch or less. Incredibly, it dates to about 50 million years ago! As the name suggests, the blue found in this petrified wood is common and varies greatly in both intensity and hue from piece to piece. Brown, green, dark blue to black are also common. The botryoidal features, chalcedony, and overall agate content produce an amazing array and assemblage of features. With most pieces, you may expect some form of ring details, bug trails, exterior bark details and more. Although you can dig for blue forest yourself, it is not always a guarantee you will find any.
