This listing offering features an extraordinarily rare gemstone non-cut fossil and it is from a location that has been long filled in for five or more decades, a complete, all natural specimen of Golden Agatized Jasperized Tempskya Fern from the Greenhorn Mountains of Oregon! This unique fern fossil displays complete cellular preservation in yellow, orange and golden agate! Tempskya Fern is a prehistoric vegetative life form that produced a false trunk formed of bundled petioles and grew to several feet in height. The Greenhorn deposit in Oregon is comprised of a location-specific type of preservation in quality, porcelain chalcedony (somewhat of a jasp-agate) that is best described as “Golden”. The fossil fern itself dates at least 6+ million years from the late Miocene age or more likely, the specimen is actually much older! The specimen is whole as found intact decades ago. All photographs taken while the specimen was wet excluding the final four photographs which portray the Tempskya Fern fossil while dry. The rare and highly sought after specimen measures 90mm by 105mm by 170mm long and the piece weighs 6 lb 4.6oz.
