HUGE ROUGH RAW PETRIFIED WOOD W #27. Found near the boarder of Lemhi/Custer County, Idaho, USA not far from Challis, Idaho. There is a small branch that goes through this piece of wood that is very clearly defined. There is a spot where a limb (a knot) broke off that is very clearly defined. The gains and details of this piece are incredibly pronounced and well preserved. The colors in this piece are absolutely outstanding. The black is the rarest color in petrified wood, and this piece looks so be primarily black! This piece has not been altered in any way. This is the way it was found. No polishing, smoothing of any kind. Just rinsed with water to clean off the dirt. This piece is free standing (although smoothing it out slightly would benefit it’s stability) and measures 7.5″x6″.
