Location Found: CHINCHILLA, QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA. Dimensions:12.00 IN X 10.74 IN X 0.51 IN. Description: Here is a stunning PENTOXYLON JURASSIC AGE INJUN CREEK FORMATION CHINCHILLA, QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA. This is most likely the rarest type of pentoxylon as it has several lobes. Multiple wedges of xylem surround the pith of this Jurassic-aged seed fern from Australia. Beyond these central wedges xylem formed rings of wave-like patterns. It is a museum specimen that would be comfortable in any Natural History museum. The stratigraphic layer that includes pentoxylon also holds fossil coniferous wood and fern. All of it traveled on one or more rough journeys many millions of years ago, carried by ice, water, seismic activity, landslides, astronomic actions, and whatever, resulting in a tumbled river cobble effect with a smooth and somewhat colorful exterior. This piece can also be further sliced. I only charge what the post office charges.
