This is absolutely one of the finest and largest petrified log display specimens we’ve ever been able to offer from this fine location! If you follow our work regularly you’ve probably seen the museum grade slabs that this log produced. Offered now is the final cut from the log which produced this magnificent natural sculpture! The face is cut at a sloped angle to allow viewing from almost any angle. The base is cut flat and smooth to allow it to sit as shown. This huge specimen is loaded with blue agate, golden calcite and beautifully preserved fossil wood. They simply don’t get any better than this and I doubt you’ll see one this large and completely flawless again! Here’s an absolutely museum grade specimen of petrified wood from Wyoming’s famed Blue Forest. It’s a complete petrified round cut from the end of a perfectly formed log that’s got it all. There’s a lot of brilliantly colored blue agate framing the perfectly preserved log frozen inside. It’s got really nice wood preservation throughout with a very well defined heart in the center of the log and the most stunning wood grain you’ll ever see in one of these pieces! It’s accented with a giant pocket of nicely formed cubic godlen calcite crystals. This is a very high quality, very showy piece and all the neat features combine to make this one something special! The Blue Forest is a uniquely preserved bed of small branches and occasional logs in central Wyoming. The digging is hot and dusty, but every once in a while you stumble on a real treasure and this little log is one of them! The dark, blue/black, coffee and chocolate colors the wood is preserved in are characteristic of these specimens, as are the infusions of blue agate that filled the cracks and coated the log! This is a nice stand-up type specimen cut from the end of a much larger than average sized log from a pepperwood tree. The base is cut flat so that it will stand as shown in the photo. The log face has been cut and polished to show off all the gemmy detail from this 50 million year old treasure captured inside. It took a pretty awesome polish – something we strive to produce on every specimen we put our name on! The fiberous cell structure of the radial wood grain is exceptional and easily studied with a hand lens. This is a truly massive specimen, and it is close to perfect – something that will show proudly in any collection. It measures about 10″ x 6″ across the polished face and is about 5 3/8 tall.
