Blue Forest Petrified Wood Trio 3 pieces Gold Calcite, Blue, Rings Nice
Three beautiful, complementary blue forest petrified wood specimens, each with their own unique color palette and design. When I polished the three, it became obvious how well they all fit together. A large chunk of gold calcite in one and detailed and numerous rings in the other. The brilliant blue in the final one created this obvious trio of beautifully polished blue forest slabs. Here are the individual details. The largest specimen (center of photograph) measures about 5 1/2 inches wide, 4 inches across, and is 2 1/2 inches tall. Weighs 4 lbs 3 ounces! This specimen is cut, but not polished on the reverse. Sits very slightly angled on flat surface. The second specimen (on left) contains a large gold calcite chunk. This one is great with the concentration of rings spiraling away from the center. If you look more closely, you will see additional, mostly concentric-like rings banding from center. Face measures about 5 x 4 and is 1 1/4 inches thick. Weighs 1 lb 14 ounces. Is uncut and rough on the reverse. Rests slightly angled on a flat surface. The smaller slab (on right in photograph) has a beautiful blue matrix with some rings and interesting agate details. Striking specimen measures about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch tall. Is not cut and rough on reverse, resting slightly angled on flat surface. Combined, the three specimens make a beautiful display of the variety and complexity of blue forest petrified wood. Each has an exceptional polish. Because there are three, please take the time to look them over and read this description. I’m here if you have questions. Thank you for viewing this listing of blue forest petrified wood. Blue forest petrified wood is one of the most unique and, yet, diverse types of petrified wood that exist. Found in the vicinity of Eden Valley, Wyoming, blue forest is typically smaller than average petrified woods. A good, general limb size may be about 3 to 4 inches in diameter; some up to more than a foot in diameter; others as little as 1/2 an inch or less. Incredibly, it dates to about 50 million years ago! As the name suggests, the blue found in this petrified wood is common and varies greatly in both intensity and hue from piece to piece. Brown, green, dark blue to black are also common. The botryoidal features, chalcedony, and overall agate content produce an amazing array and assemblage of features. With most pieces, you may expect some form of ring details, bug trails, exterior bark details and more. Although you can dig for blue forest yourself, it is not always a guarantee you will find any.
