SiS ASTONISHING AGATE & GEODE 9 Madagascar Petrified Wood Slab MIRROR POLISH
This is truly a one of a kind petrified log! The blade cut through a huge crystal filled geode cavity in this massive log that revealed one of the most spectacular fossil displays I’ve ever seen! The cut and polished face reveals one large, shimmering drusy quartz crystal lined cavity with sparkling crystals around the entire perimeter! If that weren’t enough, the opposite side of the face is artfully decorated with naturally formed fortification agate banding! This is a large and richly colorful slab cut from a choice petrified wood log from Madagascar. The color variations preserved in the wood grain are unmatched by any log I’ve cut from this forest and that giant crystal filled cavity isn’t something you’ll often see. The shades cover just about every color you’ll ever find in Madagascar petrified wood. If you haven’t seen Sticks-in-Stones prepared petrified wood specimens before, this is one you should consider. It’s a great way to see what sets our specimens apart from the masses! The polish is brilliant and wet looking and shows all of the color and wood structure the way it ought to be!! This gorgeous, absolutely choice petrified wood round is the latest in a series of really nice, very colorful rounds that we’ve cut from some nice, larger logs we obtained several years ago in Tucson. I met a new miner that year that brought some petrified logs in from this distant island nation and what he had was by far the best I’d seen in many, many years. The quality was so good in fact that we booked a trip to Madagascar the following year to hand select the next batch of logs and this one came from that adventure. Very nice, brilliantly colored logs hand selected for wood structure and eye appeal, cut and polished in our Oregon shop to produce truly world class collectible specimens. I can’t believe how nice this wood is cutting – just gorgeous, perfect specimens. This log is unique in the series and the color really is remarkable! In this case, I cut a medium sized, short log to produce some of the nicest Madagascar rounds I’ve ever seen! Since I’m the one that cut it, I was able to apply some of the craftsmanship I’ve learned over the years to avoid problems with flaked out fracture lines that are common in the imported specimens. I’ve also polished it to a much higher quality lustre than you find on the imported varieties. Even if you already have Madagascar wood in your collection, you owe it to yourself to see how nice these ancient treasures can be when properly prepared! This wood takes an extreme polish that looks just fabulous. It has a ton of detail and some of the nicest colors I’ve ever seen in petrified wood (and considering what we usually have on hand this is saying a lot). The neutral interior is nicely accented with a huge variety of colors all swirled with other natural tones that preserved the fibrous wood cell structure from this ancient tree fossil very well. The heart is clearly visible and there are several crystal filled cavities that penetrate the surface. It’s a striking Madagascar wood round sure to enhance any collection! It’s just amazing how beautiful petrified wood can be and this fine specimen found halfway around the world shows to what lengths people will go to bring these treasures to market! If you don’t own a top grade piece form this increasingly important deposit yet in your own collection, this is your chance. This is a perfect round cut from the center of a nice sized log. This stone has been professionally polished on a special lap that produces a flat face and a mirror perfect shine. The polish really is liquid perfect – a difference in the quality products Sticks-in-Stones has built its reputation on! It measures about 8 3/4″ x 7″ across the mirror polished face. It’s cut about 0.56 thick. The item “SiS ASTONISHING AGATE & GEODE 9 Madagascar Petrified Wood Slab MIRROR POLISH” is in sale since Saturday, April 6, 2019.
