HIGH POLISHED AND NATURAL SURFACES. RED, GRAY & WHITE COLOR. SIZE: 12″ H x 5″ W x 1.5 D. DESCRIPTION: Stunning Arizona petrified wood specimen with excellent color. The specimin is sliced and polished to a high gloss on one side and natural on the other. It has a flat base with a felt pad so it stands vertically and is very stable. This piece is 12″ high and 5″ wide at the base and tapers torwards the top giving it a very pleasing shape. It varies in thickness from about 1.5 (almost the entire length) to 1/2 at the top and weighs 5 pounds. NOTE: In looking at the other “Arizona Pertified Wood” listings I have seen several however most listed as Arizona are from Madagascar and Indonesia. Arizona pertified wood is known for its red colors and fine grain which distinguishes it from the rest is more sought after and valuable. It also cracks me up with the listing that say condition “New”. Petrified wood is made when a volcano ejects ash and covers knocked down trees. The trees need to be in the “goldilocks zone” – too close and they burn – too far and they are not fully covered cutting off air and rot. The replacement of wood with mineral takes over 100,000,000 years and it is the minerals that gived petrified wood its color not the original wood color.
