The detail in the lighter regions is washed out in the photo, but it’s easily visible in the actual stone. I’ve never encountered wood this large, this colorful, this well preserved and this affordable! Wood is relatively scarce from this region and true collector pieces are very seldom encountered. The qualities that make a piece valuable are color, completeness, shape and fracture free – this piece scores well in all of these dimensions! It measures about 39″ wide across the diagonal, but if placed in a square box that box would measure about 36″ x 29. It’s cut approximately 1 thick. The slab weighs about 69 lbs.
