#13261 is a medium-large set of petrified wood bookends weighing 10.0 pounds. They are predominantly shades of green with small beige areas and cream colored highlights. Their natural cavities are attractive and unusual with sparkling brown crystals and their rugged multicolored bark is perfect. They are 12 5/8 wide, 7 high and 1 3/4 thick standing vertically, or 13 7/8 wide 6 1/4 high and 1 3/4 thick standing horizontally. This set was taken from a tree that lived, died and petrified during the Eocene epoch approximately 55.8 million years ago in what we now refer to as Hampton Butte, Oregon. They are typical of this region as to color, but atypical in that they are somewhat less porous and therefore more agatiferous, allowing more of a mirror finish. As always, the bottom and sides are felted to protect your bookshelf. Petrified wood bookends are the ultimate collectible antiques.
