This is a natural 14 million year old petrified wood preserved tree limb specimen with broken branch protrusions which was collected from Virgin Valley, Nevada and has one end cut and polished to show the growth patterns. There is a small naturally indented spot in on the polished face which being lower then the surrounding surface area did not take a polish but retain the natural surface and is a spot a small branch had formed at one point. This Virgin Valley limb specimen is very rare since it is naturally stable (has not been treated to stabilize it) and was able to take a beautiful polish. Most petrified wood specimens from this location tend to be lighter weight, less dense, very fragile and are not able to take a good polish. This petrified wood specimen measures 5.33 inches long by 4.18 inches wide and weighs 4 pounds and 5 ounces. This Virgin Valley petrified wood specimen would be an excellent addition to any rock and mineral collection.
